The protector of monuments

  • From 1980 to 1983 he heard lectures in art history in Szeged;

  • Between 1992 and 2000 he took part in summer and free universities in the field of monument protection;

  • In 1998 he carried out the investigations of the civil organisations, dealing with protection of ancient and historic monuments;

  • In 1999 his very first studies were published in the journals of „Műemlékvédelem” and „Falu Város Régió”, and later in the „Szabolcs-Szatmár-Beregi Szemle”;

  • In 2000 his study, written on the reconstruction of the reformed church in Kisszekeres, has been placed – as only one from Hungary – on the list of UNI Cultural Heritage Search Engine and in half a dozen selections in Western Europe;

  • From 2001 on, he has been invited to several conferences on protection of historic and ancient monuments, held in Hungary (Budapest, Debrecen, Eger, Esztergom, Miskolc, Sopron, Szeged, Szekszárd) and in abroad (Austria, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine) as well; on the national meeting of the village and town protection organisations he was the plenary referee and the chairman of the legal section;

  • In 2003 he was awarded „Certificate, given to the Protectors of the Town Nyíregyháza”;

  • From 2005 on he has been reporting the journal „Értékmentő” on the events of European Heritage Days in Hungary and in Slovakia, and on the International Conference on the „Epoch of Bathorys”; he has sent reports to the Polonia Węgierska about his trips, visiting ancient monuments in Poland;

  • In 2007 he held a lecture with the title „The civil sphere and the protection of historic monuments” in the Krúdy Vigadó, in December 2007 he has been awarded „Certificate, given to the Protectors of the Town Nyíregyháza” for the second time;

  • In 2008 was awarded the „Gyula Forster Commemorative Medal – for the Protection of Hungarian Historical Monuments” by the Minister of Education and Culture – according to the statement, for his excellent publication activities, developing the issue of the protection of historical and ancient monuments; he has been elected as a member of the ICOMOS and its Hungarian National Committee; he gave an age description with the title „The civil organisations and the protection of national monuments in Hungary” in Vienna;

  • In May 2009 he took part in the General Assembly of the Hungarian National Committee of ICOMOS in Esztergom and in several conferences in Hungary and abroad as well;

  • In 2010 he had three own photographic exhibitions; his albums with photos, taken by him in Yemen and Armenia, were published by publishing company „Örökségünk Könyvkiadó”;

  • In 2011 his Tibet photo album – in Hungarian and English languages – has been published; furthermore, his studies in the field of art history and protection of ancient monuments with the title „Ancient monuments, concealing secret” have been released in an independent volume;

  • In 2012, as a member of ICOMOS delegation he took part in professional programme, organised by the Cultural Committee of the Hungarian Parliament and in several international conferences on heritage protection. The Bratislava radio station „Radio Patria” made an interview with him. His two photo albums have been published;

  • In 2013 the second volume with his studies has been published, with the title „Towns, concealing secret”. His two photo albums – „Scenes for the Eternity” and „Fate-photos” - have been published. On the national meeting of the village and town protection organisations he was the plenary referee and the chairman of the legal section;

  • In 2014 he participated in conferences on monument protection in Hungary, Austria and Slovakia, and in ICOMOS-event in Buda Castle in Budapest as well. An article has been written by him about the Maya Ruins in El Salvador and Temple of Abu Simbel in Egypt;

  • In 2015 he was at a conference, in Athens (and after in Vienna). The third volume with his studies was published, with the title „Countrysides, concealing secret”. With the title „(In) Value saving” were published his papers, studies and reports on the protection of ancient monuments;

  • In 2016 he participated in conferences on monument protection in Vienna, Budapest and Pécs. His two photo albums – „In memoriam Palmyra”, „Child(fate)photos” - and the fifth volume with his studies, with the title „Site visits” have been published;

  • In 2017 he wrote an article about the monuments in the multicultural Toledo, Agra, Nepal, Srí Lanka and in the royal cities of Morocco. His two photo albums („The destroyed World Heritage” and „Following the lost time”) and one book („Lost time”) - have been published. He held several lectures about Palmyra, having been destroyed.;

  • In 2018 he published his new book, lectures in Debrecen, Nyíregyháza, Komarno and Újfehértó. Interviewed with Radio Europe. The Television Kölcsey made about him a portrait film. From his monumentphotos eight exhibitions were opened;

  • On 20th November 2018, the Committee of Municipal Repository of Values of Nyíregyháza made a decision to add the work of László Sipos, carried out by him in protection of ancient monuments and ancient monument photography, to the Hungarian national values;

  • In 2019 he held a lecture in the “Valuable Evening”, and the Persepolis-albums and his book with title“Once upon a time” were appeard;

  • In 2020, his exhibition opening speeches and conversations were published with the title „Meetings” by publishing company „Örökségünk Könyvkiadó”; while his art history and ancient monument protection writings were issued in publications with titles: „Ten bites of Poland – spiced with World Heritages”, „World Heritages, concealing secret” and „Churches, concealing secret”. Four photo exhibitions were organised from his ancient monument photos, introducing the vulnerable World Heritages;

  • In 2021 a volume with his studies was published with the title „Asia, concealing secret”; he prepared articles about monuments in Kamakura, Petra and Sikkim, and about the mediaeval church in Máriapócs as well. His photos, taken of mediaevel frescos, were released in a separate volume; his studies, dealing with wall paintings, were published in a separate volume, included in YouTube-videos and shown on exhibitions as well;

  • In 2022 his writings on monument protection in Europe were published in a separate volume with the title „Continental adventures”, while his studies on frescos were released in „Bessenyei Almanach” and „Szabolcs-Szatmár-Beregi Szemle”. His fresco photos are shown in Nyíregyháza, Ibrány, Vaja and then in Debrecen;

  • In 2023 a big interview, made with him by the Príma-awarded journalist, Sándor Marik, was conducted (and published in a volume, too); his book, having the title „Adventures in America”, was presented during the Festive Book Week (Ünnepi Könyvhét). His recent studies, dealing with mediaeval wall paintings, have been published in a volume with title „Site Visits 2”;

  • In 2024 a big interview was made with him by the „Európa Rádió”; he held lectures on the protection of historic and ancient monuments in Debrecen, Nyíregyháza and in castle of Vaja. On the occasion of the Festive Book Week, his book with the title „Oriental adventures from Japan to Vietnam” will be published, introducing several monuments, world heritages.
